Title: Hygiene Manager
As the Hygiene Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation across the Wrexham Manufacturing Plant. Your mission will be to uphold and continuously improve food safety practices by managing the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), overseeing cleaning and pest control contracts, and ensuring all sanitation procedures are fully documented and effectively executed.
In this role, you’ll be the key point of contact for all sanitation-related activities, representing the operations team and working closely with both internal stakeholders and external partners. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining compliance, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of food safety excellence.
You’ll report to the QFS Manager, collaborate with the QFS Lead Team and local functional leaders, and work closely with external partners including suppliers and sanitation service providers. This is a full-time, site-based role at our Wrexham Manufacturing Plant, covering all aspects of a fast-paced FMCG production environment, including high-volume manufacturing and office areas
.A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing:
- Programme Leadership & Ownership – Lead the Housekeeping & Sanitation Programme under the 7 Core framework, setting site-wide standards and driving overall sanitation strategy.
- Schedule & Procedure Governance – Develop, implement, and continuously refine the Master Sanitation Schedule and SSOPs, ensuring structured, compliant, and effective cleaning protocols
- Pest Control Management – Oversee all pest control operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement through focused initiatives and training.
- Contractor Oversight & Plant Cleaning – Plan, coordinate, and manage housekeeping activities (routine, periodic, and reactive), delivered by both Kellanova and external cleaning partners.
- Audit & Compliance Execution – Verify cleaning performance through sanitation audits, lead corrective actions, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
- Chemical & Equipment Stewardship – Insource and manage cleaning chemicals in collaboration with suppliers; optimise design and innovation of site cleaning tools.
- Workforce Development & Engagement – Coach staff, provide hygiene training, own PDP completion, and promote GMP adherence to build site-wide hygiene capability.
- Performance, Policy & Budget Control – Monitor KPIs for cleaning efficiency, uphold Global and European food safety policies, and manage sanitation-related budgets.
We’re Looking for Someone With:
- Certification in CIEH Advanced Food Hygiene and Intermediate HACCP
- Strong knowledge of BRC standards and regulatory compliance
- Expertise in implementing Food Safety and Sanitation systems
- A deep understanding of manufacturing plant processes, quality assurance, and food safety controls
- Demonstrated ability to manage and execute food safety audit schemes
- Extensive knowledge of sanitation practices in food manufacturing, including pest control
- Proficiency in computer-based systems and digital tools
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, including root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Strong planning, prioritization, and execution capabilities
- Proven leadership and team development skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, regulatory bodies, and internal departments
- A strong commitment to consumer and customer satisfaction
