Title:  Lead Packaging Designer

Description:

At Kellanova, we're shaping the future of snacking through innovation, sustainability, and trusted expertise. We are looking for a Lead Packaging Designer on an 12 month fixed term contract to join our Packaging R&D team, where you'll play a critical role in driving packaging regulatory compliance and helping us achieve our vision of being the most trusted packaging team in the industry. This is a highly visible role that combines technical expertise, industry engagement, and strategic influence across our packaging portfolio.

Based across Media City and Haydock, with flexible home working and opportunities to travel across Europe, you'll serve as a key regulatory and packaging subject matter expert, partnering with R&D, Regulatory, Public Affairs, Sustainability, Supply Chain, and external industry bodies to anticipate legislative changes, assess business impact, and drive proactive solutions that support our compliance and sustainability ambitions while helping shape the future of packaging across our portfolio.

A Taste of What You'll Be Doing

  • Packaging Regulatory Leadership – Lead the packaging regulatory agenda by monitoring emerging and existing legislation, translating complex requirements into clear insights and actions for the Packaging team.
  • Industry Representation – Act as a key technical representative with external trade bodies, industry partners, and internal governance forums, ensuring Kellanova's perspective is heard and understood.
  • Risk & Issue Management – Evaluate regulatory and packaging-related risks, conduct issue assessments, and lead cross-functional action teams to proactively address challenges and opportunities.
  • Technical Data & Insights – Drive the creation and maintenance of technical packaging databases that support informed decision-making across our packaging portfolio.
  • Sustainability & Compliance Strategy – Support compliance and sustainability initiatives, including packaging waste regulations, extended producer responsibility requirements, and future legislative roadmaps.

We're Looking for Someone With

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Regulatory Affairs, Product Design, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical expertise.
  • Significant experience acting as a technical expert within Packaging Technology.
  • Experience interpreting packaging regulations and representing business interests with trade bodies and external organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, structures, manufacturing processes, and packaging development principles.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, food contact material legislation, sustainability frameworks, certification requirements, and extended producer responsibility regulations.
  • Experience handling technical data, applying analytical methodologies, and developing data-driven recommendations.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities within packaging or technical development environments.
