Title:  Ammonia Process Safety Management Coordinator

Description: 

As the Ammonia Process Safety Management Coordinator, you will lead the implementation and maintenance of comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) compliance systems at the plant level. You will provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure compliance with PSM/RMP regulatory requirements, including conducting hazard assessments, managing mechanical integrity programs, and overseeing emergency response planning.

 

As a key member of our plant safety team, you will champion our Ammonia Process Safety Management Program , collaborating closely with other departments to streamline processes, implement strategic initiatives, and drive continuous improvement. In this role, you will mentor and develop team members, foster a culture of safety, and promote a positive work environment. You will be instrumental in leading the plant's culture of safety and ensuring robust PSM practices are embedded across operations.

 

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Employee & Contractor Participation: Ensure participation in Ammonia Awareness, PSM, and RMP training.
  • Capable of leading Management of Change (MOC) processes from initiation through documentation, stakeholder coordination, and final closure, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational integrity
  • Process Safety Information & Process Hazard Analysis (PHA): Lead the development, consolidation, and maintenance of process safety information. Conduct PHA studies per stated scope, purpose, and objectives, ensuring timely resolution and documentation of all recommendations. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure findings are implemented effectively.
  • Pre-Startup Safety Review & Mechanical Integrity: Conduct pre-startup safety reviews to ensure modifications are installed according to approved design standards. Develop new procedures prior to the start-up of modified equipment and ensure all personnel are trained on the procedures. Identify and maintain the equipment list, plan, schedule, record, and manage inspection and testing of equipment according to good engineering practices. Establish and implement quality assurance procedures for mechanical integrity activities, ensuring alignment with PSM standards.
  • Hot Work Permit: Manage the hot work permit process, designating individuals authorized to approve hot work.
  • Other Responsibilities: Conduct incident investigations with a focus on identifying process safety failures, lead emergency response planning and drills, perform compliance audits, and track accident history to identify trends and implement corrective actions. Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance PSM and RMP compliance.

 

We’re Looking for Someone With

 

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for Ammonia Refrigeration: safety, environment, and statutory inspections. (OSHA, EPA)
  • Proficient in interpreting, maintaining, and updating P&IDs for ammonia refrigeration systems, with a strong understanding of system components, flow paths, instrumentation, and safety protocols.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions
  • Strong communicator with a proactive and self-driven approach to work. Demonstrates persistence in seeing tasks through to completion, even under challenging circumstances. Skilled in navigating difficult conversations with professionalism and clarity. Holds vendors and team members accountable to expectations and timelines, fostering a culture of responsibility and ethical action

 

Compensation

The annual salary range is $88,700-$121,990, which is based on various factors such as location, experience and skill. Discretionary bonuses based on company and individual performance are also available.
