Title: Occupational Health Lead
As an Occupational Health Lead, you’ll play a vital role in protecting and promoting the health and wellbeing of our workforce. This position offers the opportunity to deliver comprehensive occupational health services (OHS) and provide expert advice that ensures compliance, minimises risk, and supports a safe, productive working environment.
Working at the intersection of clinical expertise, health promotion, and regulatory compliance, you’ll collaborate with HR, managers, and cross-functional teams to drive proactive health initiatives and support individual case management. You’ll also lead and develop a team of two Occupational Health Advisors, ensuring best practice and high standards across all OH activities.
Reporting to the HR Manager, you’ll be based at our Wrexham plant with occasional travel to support wider business needs. The role combines hands-on health assessments, strategic advisory responsibilities, and leadership in policy development and training.
A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing
- Workload Management: Organise and prioritise your own workload and coordinate contracted support services.
- Health Screening & Assessments: Deliver mandatory health screenings and pre-placement assessments to ensure compliance and advise on fitness for work and reasonable adjustments.
- HR & Case Management Support: Provide expert guidance to HR and managers on sickness absence, rehabilitation, and case management for safe and timely return to work.
- Health Promotion Initiatives: Develop and deliver health promotion programmes and lifestyle assessments aligned with business needs and national strategies.
- First Aid Leadership: Manage and train first aid personnel, ensuring best practice and compliance with First Aid at Work Regulations and company policies.
- Specialist Training Delivery: Prepare and deliver training on occupational health topics such as stress, ergonomics, and health and safety for new employees.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure compliance in health and safety risk assessments, medicines management, and data protection while overseeing travel health and DSE programmes.
- Policy Development & Team Leadership: Lead policy creation and team management, including site OH policies and line management of OH Advisor.
We’re Looking for Someone With
- State Registered or Registered General Nurse qualification
- Occupational Health Certificate/Diploma or Degree
- NEBOSH Certificate and/or Diploma
- Audiometry and Spirometry Certification
- Strong IT skills and experience with OH computerised systems
- Experience in an Occupational Health role
- Food Hygiene Certificate
