Title:  Mechanical Leading Hand

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Technician, for our Manufacturing operation based at Botany, a facility that produces many of our well recognised breakfast brands!  This role forms an integral part of our maintenance team and works alongside our shift operations team, committed to improving operability, reliability and availability of our Botany Plant. 


A taste of what you’ll be doing:

  • Hands on & leading workshop resources to ensure planned work is completed on time
  • Maintaining the functionality of the plant from mechanical perspective to improve operability, reliability, and availability of equipment.  
  • Understand mechanical priorities on the day and re-deploy team as required to complete most urgent work
  • Communicate progress and timeframes of repairs back to maintenance leadership team
  • Raise work requests and close out work orders in SAP including issuing parts and entering work hours
  • Working with Engineering to identify and design equipment improvement modifications to reduce downtime and waste.
  • Executing preventative maintenance activities as per schedule to improve plant reliability.
  • Ensuring adherence to all standard work processes, including our lean manufacturing processes, auditing quality of work against standards.
  • Ensuring that all maintenance work adheres to regulatory compliance requirements ie GMP, HACCP, EHS. 

 

Your recipe for success:

  • You will be a licensed fitter and turner 
  • Previous experience in a 2IC or trades leadership role 
  • FMCG experience, with high-speed packaging machinery will be highly regarded
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics post trade qualifications are desirable
  • TIG welding of stainless steel is also desirable  
  • Ability to work independently and direct support resources effectively
  • Agility and responsiveness to changing priorities
  • A team player with strong communication skills 

 

This role is required to work 6:00am to 2:30pm Monday – Friday, with reasonable overtime as required
