Sanitation Coordinator
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Sanitation Coordinator in our Springs Plant, reporting to the Plant Sanitarian.
In this role as a Sanitation Coordinator at Mars Snacking, you will ensure that all sanitation, hygiene, environmental controls, and pest management programs are effectively implemented and verified during their shift and the role provides direct oversight of the cleaning service provider, supports operations through training on cleaning standards, and assists in managing adverse events or out‑of‑standard conditions.

Sanitation & Hygiene Program Execution
- Ensure effective implementation, monitoring, and verification of all sanitation, hygiene, and environmental control programs during shift operations.
- Provide hands-on oversight of cleaning service providers to ensure consistent execution of sanitation standards and protocols.
- Verify compliance to the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and provide performance feedback to the Plant Sanitarian and Plant Quality Manager.
- Ensure correct and safe use of cleaning chemicals in line with technical data sheets, including concentration, dwell time, and application methods.
- Ensure sanitation tools and equipment are cleaned, maintained, and used correctly to prevent cross-contamination.
- Provide food safety oversight during maintenance activities, including hygiene permits, risk assessments, and ATP/microbiological verification.
Pest Management Oversight

- Work closely with Pest Control Technicians during inspections and treatments.
- Identify risk areas, track corrective and preventative actions, and verify closure of findings.
- Ensure pest activity thresholds remain within site and policy limits.
Environmental Monitoring & Verification

- Support execution of the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), ensuring swabs are taken aseptically, on time, and according to plan.
- Conduct line verification for First Time Clean (FTC) release and support compliant plant start-up processes.
Operational Support & Issue Management

- Assist with the management of adverse events, out-of-standard conditions, and OSCR scenarios.
- Support Operations through training and capability building on operational sanitation (OpSan) programs.
- Training, Capability Building & Continuous Improvement
- Train, coach, and motivate staff to improve sanitation, hygiene, and pest management performance.
- Participate in G6 plant walks with Shift Leadership to identify gaps, close actions, and strengthen ownership.
- Provide shift-based feedback to leadership on sanitation effectiveness and improvement opportunities.
Escalation & Reporting

- Immediately escalate high-risk findings or potential food safety threats to the Site Quality Manager and Shift Leader.
- Complete comprehensive shift reports covering sanitation, hygiene, pest management, and QFS oversight activities.
- Your Recipe for Success
- Minimum: BSc or National Diploma in Food Technology, Microbiology, Food Science, or equivalent.
- Preferred: Additional qualifications or certifications in Food Safety, Hygiene, or Auditing
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in sanitation and hygiene programs, pest management, audits, and inspections.
- Sufficient / in depth, knowledge of:
- Hygiene and Sanitation Practices
- Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- Microbiology
- Cereal or food manufacturing
- GMP, FSSC 22000 Version 6, and AIB standards
