Title: Specification Technologist
We’re looking for a Specifications Technologist on a 12-month fixed term contract to play a key role in ensuring the quality, accuracy and integrity of the raw materials that underpin our products. You’ll be central to managing how ingredient data flows through the business, supporting innovation, compliance and product performance through well‑structured, reliable information.
Working across our Trafford Park pilot plant, Haddock Centre of Excellence (from July time 2026) and our Media City office, this hybrid role gives you the opportunity to collaborate with technical, quality and development teams, contribute to system improvements, and support decision‑making that drives our product portfolio forward.
A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing
- Specification Interpretation: Reviewing and interpreting internal and supplier material specifications, considering compositional data, ingredient physical/chemical parameters, sensory attributes and nutritional content.
- Data Accuracy & Maintenance: Accurately entering and maintaining raw material data in the internal product lifecycle management system to ensure specifications are robust, up to date, and compliant.
- Cross‑Team Collaboration: Collaborating with Quality and Food Development teams to assess raw materials and provide guidance on potential impacts to recipes and finished products.
- Workload Management: Managing your own workload to complete specification reviews in a timely manner, adapting to changing priorities as needed.
- System Ownership & Improvement: Working cross‑functionally with multiple departments and taking on SPOC responsibility of the product lifecycle system to ensure it remains fit for purpose, while identifying and driving opportunities for continuous improvement.
We’re Looking for Someone With
- Knowledge and ability to understand raw material specifications, ingredient physical/chemical parameters, cereal science and nutrition.
- Technical knowledge of ingredient functionality in recipe formulation and manufacturing processes.
- A high level of attention to detail and an analytical mindset.
- The ability to work autonomously, with strong communication skills to build effective relationships across teams.
- Flexibility in the face of changing work demands, with the capability to plan, prioritise and coordinate accordingly.
