Title:  Power and Controls Engineer

Join our dynamic engineering team as a Power and Controls Engineer, where you’ll lead the development and implementation of innovative solutions across food manufacturing projects. From concept through startup, you’ll manage high-impact initiatives that apply advanced engineering principles and cross-functional collaboration. Your work will bring new technologies to life and ensure seamless integration into our operations.

 

As a key member of the Power, Controls, and Information Systems team, you’ll support existing systems while exploring future possibilities with cutting-edge tools. You’ll coach and train operations teams on new equipment and processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role offers exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines and the opportunity to work with global partners and vendors.

 

This position supports facilities in the following regions and can be based in any of these locations:

  • Midwest  Battle Creek, Michigan; Grand Rapids, Michigan
  • East  Cary, North Carolina
  • Central  Jackson, Tennessee

 

Travel across the North America region is expected, averaging 15–20% with peaks up to 50%, depending on project needs.

 

A Taste of What You’ll Be Doing

 

  • Lead High-Impact Engineering Projects  Own power and controls initiatives from concept to execution, driving innovation and efficiency across multiple manufacturing sites. Your leadership will shape how we deliver technology solutions that fuel our production capabilities.
  • Be the Go-To Technical Expert  Provide hands-on support for control systems, robotics, software integration, and electrical compliance. Youll be the person our teams rely on to troubleshoot, optimize, and elevate our operations.
  • Build the Future Through Documentation  Develop and maintain the technical blueprints that guide our systemsspecifications, design standards, and cost models that ensure consistency and scalability.
  • Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration  Partner with process, packaging, utilities, and digital teams to deliver seamless capital projects. Youll be at the center of innovation, connecting ideas to execution.
  • Grow Talent and Shape Strategy  Coach and mentor engineers across North America, while contributing to regional technology strategies that define the future of our supply chain capabilities.

 

We’re Looking for Someone With

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience, or an Associate’s degree with 10+ years, or a high school diploma or GED certificate with 15+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience with 480-volt three-phase power systems, motor controls, variable frequency drives, servo drives, and programmable logic controller programming (Rockwell/Allen Bradley).
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code regulations including NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, and UL 508A.
  • Working experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Vault software.
  • Skills in structured query language, supervisory control and data acquisition, manufacturing execution systems, data collection, networking, and virtualization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Experience with control platforms such as Rockwell/Allen Bradley, B&R Industrial Automation, Beckhoff Automation, and Fanuc Robotics.

 

Compensation

 

The annual salary range is $100,600 - $131,985, which is based on various factors such as location, experience and skill. Discretionary bonuses based on company and individual performance are also available.
